Congratulations! It’s your senior year! There are so many things you have to look forward to, and senior portraits are your chance to document such an exciting and special season of your life. Today I want to share a few of my best tips to prepare for your session and get the most out of it.
A month before:
Gather inspiration from pinterest or other sources for location, outfits, and overall vision for your portraits.
Book a professional makeup artist if you plan to use one. This is definitely optional, but senior pictures only come once, so why not kick it up a notch?
A week before:
Try on outfit options and narrow down your top picks. Make sure you know what accessories and shoes you will wear. (P.S. I love it when my seniors send me pictures of their options when they need help choosing!)
Get enough sleep and drink plenty of water. Your body will thank you and your skin will have a glow that no amount of photoshop can fake!
Get a fresh haircut/color. This is not the time to experiment with a new look— you will want your pictures to look the way people remember you. But it IS a good time to make sure you have fresh ends and your roots are touched up if you normally color your hair. Make sure you do this AT LEAST a week before your session so it will look natural by the time of your pictures.
1-2 days before:
Make sure your outfits are clean and IRONED! Even if you normally skip ironing, your photos will look so much nicer and it only takes a few minutes.
Get a fresh manicure. Your hands will be visible in many of the photos, so you won’t want to have chipped polish!
Make a playlist to bring to your session! It will help you feel relaxed and comfortable and bring out your genuine smiles.
